Background

The Kalundborg Municipal Council established ISK to accommodate the influx of international residents. Many expatriate workers bring their families, and ISK aims to provide suitable education in an international environment. The school also seeks to create cross-cultural communities, fostering integration and new opportunities locally.

The overarching vision of Kalundborg's Youth Policy is for all children to reach their full potential. Public schools are central to achieving equal opportunities for all. ISK will create strong, inclusive educational communities, focusing on engagement, attendance, and academic performance.

Kalundborg aims to offer modern learning environments, digital tools, collaborations with businesses, and connections between mainstream and specialized education to promote inclusivity.

Kalundborg's school system includes 16 mainstream schools, three inclusion centers, and two special schools, serving about 4,000 students. Tenth graders attend Allikelund Gymnasium.
