Who Are We?

Welcome to one of Denmark’s first international public schools!
Kalundborg Municipality decided in October 2024 to establish an international public school. The school will be located in Kalundborg, closely connected to Herredsåsen School, to utilize existing facilities and will operate under the law governing municipal international schools.

The school will offer a bilingual program certified by Cambridge, requiring staff to be proficient in English.

About Kalundborg and ISK
Kalundborg Municipality
Located on the northwest coast of Zealand, Kalundborg is surrounded by beautiful landscapes, stunning beaches, and coastal trails, making it a haven for nature lovers. Kalundborg’s rich history dates back to the Viking Age, and it features the iconic five-towered Church of Our Lady, a medieval architectural gem. With a focus on family life and community engagement, Kalundborg is an inviting place to live, offering cultural and recreational activities for a balanced lifestyle.

Kalundborg is also known for its pioneering eco-industrial symbiosis, where companies collaborate to share resources, serving as a global model for sustainability and green growth. The economy is bolstered by sectors like pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and renewable energy, with strong ties to international markets.

International School Kalundborg (ISK)
ISK is located in Herredsåsen, a peaceful, family-friendly area with easy access to the town center. Adjacent to Herredsåsen School, ISK benefits from a municipality committed to education and innovation. The school is close to parks, sports facilities, and cultural attractions, fostering a rich learning environment. It is well-connected to transport networks, making it easily accessible from Kalundborg and nearby regions.

ISK will share several specialized classrooms with Herredsåsen School, including a library, cafeteria, science labs, arts and crafts rooms, an art studio, and a 'makerspace.' Students will also have access to sports facilities, “Spiralen” movement house, and a swimming pool where Grade 4 will have swimming lessons.
Recess will be enjoyed both indoors in ISK’s dedicated building and outdoors, with access to playgrounds and sports fields shared with Herredsåsen.
